KeymasterBen Duckett Became The Fastest Batsman To Score 2000 Test Runs
English opener Ben Duckett became the fastest batsman to score 2000 runs in tests in terms of balls faced during the 2nd day of the second test against Pakistan Multan on Wednesday. The Southpaw took only 2293 balls to achieve the milestone.
Duckett continued his red-hot form while opening the batting for the visitors on the second day and scored a solid 114 off 129 balls, lacing with 16 boundaries to help England stay in a strong position at the end of day 2. It was his fourth ton in his test career of 28 matches and he hit the fifty en route to his hundred in just 47 balls, portraying his no-mercy batting in the longest format.
Tim Southee previously held the record with reaching the 2000 run mark in 2418 balls whereas Australian legend Adam Gilchrist made 2000 test runs in 2483 balls as he was hailed for his aggressive strokeplay in the middle order in tests.
Duckett now has 1912 runs in only 2196 balls in red-ball cricket with four centuries and 11 fifties to his name. He boasts a staggering strike rate of 87.07 which dictates his rampage batting even in a format where the ball does a lot of talking.
