Bengal Sensation Akashdeep Makes Debut For India

Bengal sensation Akashdeep made his debut for India in the 4th test between India and England at Ranchi on 23rd February. He became the 313th player to appear for India in the longest format of the game.

The boy from Sasaram Bihar got into India’s squad as the BCCI decided to rest in form Jasprit Bumrah to manage his workload and save him from injury. Akashdeep played his maiden first-class game for Bengal in 2019 and his stats have been impressive so far, having taken 104 scalps in 30 games, including four 5-wicket hauls. His maiden call-up to the Indian team is the reward for his exceptional performance for India A and the Ranji Trophy over the past few years.

The right-arm quick bowler shined in the first session of the first game of his international career, ripping through the English top order with three wickets. Ben Duckett is his first victim in international cricket. His fiery opening spell almost turned the game in India’s favour but later Joe Root changed the momentum towards England with his sensational batting.
