Dhruv Jurel Won POTM Award, First Wicket-Keeper To Do So In 22 Years

The new wicket-keeper batsman of Indian cricket, Dhruv Jurel won the Player of the Match Award (POTM) after scoring a hard-fought 91 in the first innings from India’s poor position of 177/7  and a match-winning unbeaten 39 in the second innings along with a 72 run stand for the 6th wicket with Shubman Gill in the 4th test in Ranchi, helping the hosts to secure a victory by 5 wickets and win the series by 3-1 with one more test to go.

Jurel came to bat in the 2nd innings when India was struggling at 120/5 and Shubman Gill was holding the other end. From there, he displayed a promising batting performance, hit only 2 fours and stealing abundance of singles and doubles on the tough turning surface. For his heroic knocks in both innings, he was adjudged the Man of the Match. With that, Dhruv Jurel became the 1st Indian wicket-keeper batsman to bag a POTM award in his debut test series in last 22 years.
