DJ Bravo Named Kolkata Knight Riders Mentor For IPL 2025

Dwayne Bravo, the former West Indian bowling all-rounder has been named as the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL 2025 season on Friday 27th September. The two-time T20 World Cup winner will replace Gautam Gambhir whose aggressive and distinct approach helped KKR to win their 3rd title in the 2023 season for the role.

This surprising announcement came after Bravo bid adieu to professional cricket on Friday, he played his last professional game for Trinbago Knight Riders on Tuesday. According to ESPN Cricinfo, KKR Ceo Venky Mysore discussed with Bravo for the position during the current edition of the Caribbean Premier League. The ace cricketer will now nurture and groom all the teams under the Knight Riders Franchise such as Kolkata Knight Riders, Los Angeles Knight Riders, Trinbago Knight Riders, and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.

This will be Dwayne Bravo’s second stint as a coach, Before this, he served as the bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings for three years from 2022 to 2025, the franchise with who he won three IPL trophies as a player. With him as a coach, CSK clinched the 2023 edition of the IPL.

Moreover, the Trinidadian cricketer played 161 games in the Indian Premier League and took 183 wickets along with making 1560 runs. He featured for Mumbai Indians, Chennai Suoer Kings, and Gujarat Lions, however, spent the majority of his time with the MS Dhoni-led side. Bravo retired from the IPL post-2022 season.
