      Igor Vovhanchyn’s MMA Record

      Igor Vovhanchyn is a prominent name in the field of mixed martial arts. He hails from Kharkiv, Ukraine. Due to his tendency to get into street fights, he left track and field sports and moved to kickboxing earlier in his career in 1993. Igor became the world champion at the World Amateur Championship in Denmark for Ukraine in the same year.

      In 1995, the former kickboxer started his MMA career and participated in an event in his hometown. The 5 ft 8-inch combat sports athlete defeated his first two opponents before losing the final to Ukrainian kickboxer Andrey Besedin. In total, Igor contested 68 fights in a period of 10 years (1995-2005) across light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions and registered 56 wins and 10 losses. With his kickboxing and sambo style, he won 41 battles via knockout, 7 via submission, and 8 via decision.

      Although he never fought in a branded promotion, he still holds the record for the longest winning streak (41) in MMA history. For his versatility, skills, and legacy, an MMA tournament has been named after him, the Igor Vovhanchyn Cup.

      Igor was featured in events like Interpride, Pride Fighting Championship, International Absolute Fighting Championship, World Vale Tudo Championship, etc.
