KeymasterIndia’s Squad For England Series, Shami Included After One Long Time
On Sunday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20 series. Mohammed Shami has been included in the squad for the first time since the 2023 World Cup. Despite playing through ankle and knee injuries during the World Cup, Shami has undergone treatment and is now fit to play.
Notably, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been overlooked, with Sanju Samson, the highest run-scorer in the SA T20 series, and the impressive Dhruv Jurel being preferred. Jasprit Bumrah, who suffered a back injury during the Sydney test, has also been left out.
Players like Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Harshit Rana, who missed the SA T20 tour due to the Australia test series, have been included in the squad. However, Jitesh Sharma, Avesh Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Yash Dayal, and Vijaykumar Vyshyak have been left out.
Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team, with Axar Patel as his new deputy. Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh are the specialist batters in the squad, while Hardik Pandya will provide balance with both batting and bowling.
The management has selected T20 specialists Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, and Ravi Bishnoi for the bowling department.
