Russian athlete Khabib Nurmagomedov is Probably the greatest fighter of all time in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC. He started his mixed martial arts career in 2008 and became the maiden champion of the first edition of the Antrim Cup a month later.
Khabib Nurmagomedov faced American athlete Justin Gaetjhe in his last UFC and as well as MMA fight on 24th October 2020 in the main event of UFC 254 at the du Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The 35-year-old defeated the American fighter in the second round via submission with the help of a triangle choke. With this amazing victory, the ace continued his unbeaten streak and took his tally to 29-0. Therefore, Khabib defended his lightweight championship belt and was crowned as the ultimate champion in his weight division.
Khabib was supposed to fare Tony Ferguson but due to the Russia-Ukraine war, he could not leave his country. They both were undefeated for the last 12 matches and Tony had to face his compatriot Gaetjhe at UFC 249. Gaetjhe beat Tony in the fifth round with a technical knockout and broke the winning streak of his opponent. This is how the last match of Khabib occurred with him.
Nurmagomedov announced his retirement after the bout and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame later in 2022.
