Most Expensive Player In WPL 2024

The 2nd edition of the Women’s Premier League is scheduled to play in the upcoming February and March in one particular state. The auction for this installment concluded on the 9th of December in Mumbai. A total of 165 players went under the hammer on Sunday and 30 players including Indians and foreigners found themselves a team. All five franchises spent INR 12.64 cr combined in the mini-auction of WPL this year. Some international and uncapped players went big in the event, let’s contemplate the most expensive player in the WPL 2024.

Most Expensive Player In WPL 2024

      Kashvee Gautam (INR 2 cr)

A complete all-rounder from Chandigarh, Kashvee Gauram broke the bank in the 2024 WPL auction and became the most expensive player when Gujarat Giants bagged her for a large sum of INR 2 cr after winning the bidding war. Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz also wanted her on their side but GG had the last laugh. Kashvee had a great 2023 Women’s Senior T20 Trophy earlier this year, claiming 12 wickets in 7 games and scoring 99 runs which put her in the limelight in the auction. She is yet to make her international debut.

      Annabel Sutherland (INR 2 cr)

Enterprising Australian seam bowling all-rounder, Annabel Sutherland was the 2nd most expensive player in the WPL 2024. She made her last appearance in the Women’s Premier League for Gujarat Giants however, they did not retain her and her price in the auction went soaring high to INR 2 cr as last-time runners Delhi Capitals secured her services despite a tough money war by Mumbai Indians. The 22-year-old put on a superb all-round display in the latest WBBL where she took 23 scalps in 14 games and amassed 288 runs.

      Vrinda Dinesh (INR 1.3 cr)

An explosive batsman from Karnataka who was a run bank in the Women’s T20 Trophy and One Day Trphy both this season, 22-year-old Vrinda Dinesh was the center of attraction in the 2024 WPL auction for her ability to score brisk and huge runs. She fetched INR 1.3 cr from UP Warriorz although Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Giants were also engaged in the bidding war to pull the deal off.

      Shabnim Ismail (INR 1.2 cr)

One of the fastest bowlers in women’s cricket, South African seamer Shabnim Ismail gets the 4th spot on the elite list of most expensive players in WPL 2024. Ismail represented UP Warroirz last season but featured in 3 games only. Shhabnim possesses an experience of 113 T20Is where she scraped 123 wickets at a misery economy of 5.77. Mumbai Indians spent INR 1.2 cr to purchase the quality seamer in the show.

      Phoebe Litchfield (INR 1 cr)

Phoebe Litchfield is an Australian prodigy who has made her name around the world primarily as a batter and an occasional leg-break bowler. She set the auction on fire with multiple franchises placing bids for her excellence on the field. Gujarat Giants welcomed her into their unit for a good deal of INR 1 cr. Litchfield has made 3 outings in T20Is so far and scored 99 runs, including a blitzkrieg 52 off 19 balls against West Indies. She also was among the leading run-getters in the recently finished WBBL with 209 runs in 15 games.
