Phil Salt Replaced Jason Roy In KKR For IPL 2024
English wicket-keeper batsman Phil Salt replaced Jason Roy in KKR for the IPL 2024. The English opener has optioned out of the IPL citing personal reasons.
This is not the first time Roy has withdrawn because of personal issues in 2020 also, he took his name out of the event for the same reason. In 2022, he did not play in the IPL after being picked in the auction to take an indefinite break.
Salt represented Delhi Capitals in 2023 and was unsold in this year’s auction. He has been picked by the Kolkata-based franchise for his auction’s base price of INR 1.5 cr. The swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman has been in terrific form recently. In England’s last T20 series against West Indies, he was the leading run-getter with 331 runs in five matches, coming at a staggering strike rate of 185.95. The right-hand batsman smacked two centuries in the series with 131 remaining his highest score.
