Ravi Ashwin Breaks Anil Kumble’s Record, Takes Most Test Fifers for India

Ravi Ashwin who recently became the 9th bowler to take 500 wickets in tests breaks former compatriot Anil Kumble’s record, taking the most fifers for India with the 36th one coming in the 5th test against England in Dharamshala.

India’s highest wicket-taker across formats, Kumble has 35 fifers in his name but with a five-wicket haul in the 2nd innings he surpassed the legend. His fifer consisted of Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Oille Pope, Ben Stokes, and Ben Foakes. The Chennai boy accomplished the feat in his 100th test, making it more special.

Ashwin touched the five-wicket mark twice in the series and ended the series as the highest wicket-taker with 26 scalps in 5 matches. England is his favorite opposition. He has claimed 114 wickets in 22 games at a captivating average of 27.72, including 8 five-wicket hauls (his most vs a team).
