KeymasterSarfaraz Khan Shines On Test Debut, Smashes A Quickfire 62
The most deserving domestic performer of India in the last few years, Sarfaraz Khan shines on test debut for India, smashing a quickfire 62 after getting on the pitch at no 6 on Thursday 15th February. This gritty fifty was against a quality bowling line up consisting of James Anderson, Mark Wood, Rehan Ahmed, and Tom Hartley.
Earlier in the morning, Sarfaraz became the 311th player to play test cricket for India. The hosts were struggling at 33/3 as Wood dismantled the Indian top order with his hostile bowling. From there, skipper Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja stitched a 204-run partnership for the 4th wicket, scoring a century apiece. The stage was set for debutant Sarfaraz after Rohit departed for an excellent 131, he adapted to the situation quickly and smashed 9 fours and a six in his solid innings, especially against the spinners he was merciless and made runs for fun as he has been there for a while.
The Mumbai batter’s innings demonstrated why playing first-class cricket and scoring tons of runs is really important to get to the highest level. His immense experience paid off nicely today and it will give a ray of hope to all the youngsters who are toiling hard in the domestic arena.
