      Slowest Century in IPL

Making a century in IPL is a matter of joy and it contributes richly to the team’s success. However, the catch in a T20 century is the number of balls a batsman faces during his innings. T20 cricket involves the element of a high strike rate and seeks boundaries in almost every two or three balls from the batsmen. A Century scored by facing more balls often causes trouble to the team, however, sometimes batters have to fight alone as wickets keep falling from the other end. This article will take you through the batters with the slowest century in IPL.

Former RCB captain Virat Kohli holds the unwanted record of the slowest century in IPL. The right-hand elegant batsman made a century off 67 balls against Rajasthan Royals in the 2024 IPL. His ton helped RCB to post a fighting total of 183 runs in 20 overs but RR chased down the score by six wickets and five balls to spare.

Indian middle-order batsman Manish Pandey gets 2nd place on this bizarre list of the slowest century in IPL. It emerged during the 2009 IPL against Deccan Chargers in Centurion in the same 67 balls as Virat Kohli. Pandey hit 10 fours and 4 sixes in his fabulous knock and helped RCB to win the game by 12 runs.

One of the greatest batters in T20 cricket history, Jos Buttler smacked a century in the 2022 edition of IPL off 66 deliveries, the third slowest century in IPL. This innings saw him smashing 11 fours and 5 sixes at a decent strike rate of  147.05. Buttler was awarded the Man of the Match for his superb ton, hence it is not always a slow hundred but the nature of the wicket also matters.
