Southee Becomes First Player To Get 150 T20I Wickets

Veteran Kiwi fast bowler Tim Southee becomes the first bowler to get 150 T20I wickets during the first T20 game of Pakistan tour of New Zealand 2023 at Eden Park.

Southee achieved this remarkable feat in his 116th game for New Zealand and Pakistani seamer Abbas Afridi was his 150th scalp in the format. The highest wicket-taker for the Blackcaps across formats dismantled the visitors with his hostile bowling and returned with the figure of 4/25 to restrict them to 180 against a target of 227 to win the game by 46 runs.

The Northern Districts bowler made his first appearance in 2008 against England and since then he has been impressive with evolution in his bowling like slower, yorkers, and obviously his trademark swings. In T20Is, Shakib Al Hasan and Rashid Khan have the 2nd and 3rd most wickets with 140 and 130 wickets respectively.
