      Virender Sehwag Test Runs

Virender Sehwag is definitely one of the top two most talked about openers of Indian cricket. His international career started in the ODI format against Pakistan in 1999 and the world already got a glimpse of Sehwag’s explosive batting. But no one knew that the Delhi opener would replicate the same in the longest format too. He made his test debut against South Africa in 2001 in Bloemfontein and scored a sensational 105 batting at middle-order. Sehwag left an imprint at the highest level by playing at a higher strike rate, he stood still and smashed the ball hard regardless of the situation. His approach towards the game was always aggressive for the new and old ball, especially, his backfoot punches, cuts, and pulls were a treat to watch.

The stalwart represented India in 104 matches and accumulated 8586 runs at a staggering average of 49.34. His remarkable career saw him hitting 23 centuries and 32 fifties. He had 2 triple centuries to his name and 319 against South Africa in Chennai is the highest individual score by an Indian in tests. His astonishing strike rate of 82.23 is one of the highest in cricket history and it dictates he feared nobody and played the bowlers for fun.
