KeymasterVirender Sehwag’s Highest Score In Test
Virender Sehwag is India’s most destructive opening batsman ever having played his cricket in the early 2000s. Coming as a bowling all-rounder who bowled decent off-spins and batted at no 6 or 7, Sehwag established himself as one of the most fierce batsmen to grace the game. “The Nawab of Najafgarh” made his first appearance in test cricket in 2001 against South Africa in Bloemfontein and scored an astonishing 105 batting in the middle order. Having featured in 104 games in his 12 years of career, the ace batsman amassed 8596 runs at a dashing average of 49.34 with 23 hundreds and 33 fifties. The most astonishing aspect of Sehwag’s batsmanship was his speed of scoring runs. He always believed in attacking the bowlers regardless of the bowler’s greatness and his strike rate of 82.23 proves that exquisitely.
Virender Sehwag’s highest score in tests came in the middle stage of his career against South Africa in 2008 in Chennai. opening the batting in the second innings for India, he scored a sensational 319 off just 304 balls against a strong bowing lineup containing Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Jacques Kallis, and Makhaya Ntini. His explosive knock was laced with 42 fours and 5 maximums. Sehwag’s 319 is the highest score in tests by an Indian and the record is still intact for 16 years now.
