KeymasterBCCI May Opt For Different Coaches For White & Red Ball Cricket If Gambhir’s Team Loses In Australia
The BCCI may opt for split coaching for white and red-ball cricket if Gautam Gambhir fails to perform well or win the series in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy, starting with the first test at Perth on 22 November. The head coach of the Indian cricket team Gambhir has been heavily denounced after India’s 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand at home, which was their first instance of being whitewashed in tests at home.
As per Dainik Jagran, if India can not defeat Australia in the forthcoming five-match test series, HC Gautam Gambhir may be replaced with NCA (National Cricket Academy) head VVS Laxman in tests who is currently with team India as the Men in Blue is playing a four-match T20I series in South Africa whereas he will continue in the position in white ball cricket.
After India’s debacle in the New Zealand test series, BCCI held a six-hour-long meeting with the head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Rohit Sharma. Board President Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah, and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar were present at the meeting. They discussed a few decisions taken in the series such as choosing a turning track in Mumbai despite losing the 2nd test in Pune on a similar deck, resting Jasprit Bumrah, and Gambhir’s coaching methods. However, Bumrah was rested to prevent injury after two back-to-back games.
Since taking over as the boss after Rahul Dravid, Gambhir first lost an ODI series in Sri Lanka, India’s first series loss on Lankan soil in 27 years. Then the Kiwis who never won a test series in India hammered the hosts in all three games. The coach and captain duo will have to restrategize their tactics and reconsider the player’s position in the playing xi to turn things around in Australia.
