After their loss against India on Monday, Australia had to rely on the result of Afghanistan vs Bangaldesh game. Afghan won by 8 runs in a low-scoring thriller and ended their dream of lifting the trophy for the 2nd time. Earlier post winning the 50-over World Cup in India, Warner hinted that the T20 World Cup 2024 would be his last tournament for the Australian team. His last appearance in ODI was the final against India in the World Cup 2023 while he played his last test against Pakistan in January 2024.

His illustrious 15-year-old career saw him score 18995 runs in 383 matches across all formats with 49 centuries and 98 fifties under his belt. The New South Wales batsman won the 2015 World Cup, 2021 T20 World Cup, and 2023 World Test Championship with the Men in Yellow and enacted a pivotal role with the bat in all the events.

Warner’s aggressive approach in every format along with the zeal of making big runs will be a big miss for Australia. He with the willow in hand always provided a great start for Australia. His legacy will be hard to follow for any batsman coming in.
