      Former Indian Cricketer David Johnson Committed Suicide

      Former Indian and Karnataka cricketer David Johnson committed suicide by jumping from the 4th floor of his apartment in Bengaluru on Thursday 20th June. According to some reports, he took the harsh decision out of depression. After receiving the information, the Kothanu police rushed to his residence and took the body to the Crescent Hospital.

      Johnson played two test matches for India against Australia in 1996 and bagged three wickets. Due to his struggle with fitness and consistency, he did not get many opportunities at the highest level. The 52-year-old played 39 first-class and 37 List A games for Karnataka and claimed 125 and 41 wickets respectively with his decent fast bowling. Post-retirement, he was involved with coaching too .

      Since the time, the news of the demise of Johnson broke out, social media has been filled with griefs and condolences from cricketers like Anil Kumble and thousands of cricket fans. Everybody is mourning his untimely death and Kumble posted on X saying- “Saddened to hear the passing away of my cricketing colleague David Johnson. Heartfelt condolecens to his family. Gone too soon.”
