Kolkata Knight Riders is one of the most balanced sides in the IPL. Their performance in the IPL has been more or less decent, qualifying for the playoffs seven times while winning the trophy twice in 2012 and 2014 respectively. The batting unit of KKR has done well often in the cash-rich league. They had top-order batsmen like Sourav Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir, and Brendon McCullum in the past, and all-rounders like Jacques Kallis, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, etc have been a part of the team too. Hence, bowling to the KKR has never been easy, given their depth of batting.
The lowest score of KKR in the IPL is a mere 67 against Mumbai Indians in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008 against Mumbai Indians. Batting first, the Sourav Ganguly-led franchise faced wrath from the robust MI bowling lineup consisting of Shaun Pollock, Dwayne Bravo, Ashish Nehra, and Dominic Thornely. Pollock’s 3/12, and Bravo, Raje, and Thornley’s two wickets apiece helped the hosts pack the visitors for 67 at Wankhede Stadium. Only Salman Butt, Sourav Ganguly, and Ajit Agarkar crossed the single-digit score for Kolkata. In Reply, MI chased down the target in 5,3 overs on the back of a rampage knock by Sananth Jayasuriya who made 48* off 17 balls.
