MD Siraj Became Fourth Indian To Take Fifer In Tests At Edgbaston

Hyderabad pacer Mohammed Siraj delivered a sensational performance in the second innings of the 2nd Test against England on Friday, July 4th, at Edgbaston, becoming the fourth Indian seamer to claim a five-wicket haul at the venue. He now shares the honor with legends like Chetan Sharma, Kapil Dev, and Ishant Sharma.

Leading India’s pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, the 31-year-old tore through England’s batting lineup with figures of 6/70 in 19.3 overs, including a double strike in the third over that saw Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope dismissed in quick succession. His spell helped India bowl out England for 407, securing a commanding 180-run lead for the 2nd innings.

This was Siraj’s fourth career fifer in Test cricket and his maiden five-wicket haul in England, showcasing his growth as a reliable overseas performer. His 6/70 now stands as the second-best bowling figure by an Indian at Edgbaston, behind Chetan Sharma’s 6/58 in 1986.
