The best fast bowler in Pakistan after Wasim Akram, Mohammad Amir came out of retirement on 24th March 2024 and made himself available for selection for the bilateral series and especially the 2024 T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be played from the 1st June in the West Indies and the USA.

The left-arm seamer’s last appearance for Pakistan came against England in 2020 in a T20 game and he took his retirement in December citing he was not mentally well. He played the recently concluded PSL 2024 and returned with 10 scalps in nine matches at a decent economy rate of 8.41. He took 2/20 in 4 overs in the play-off against Islamabad United. Along with Amir, his fellow teammate Imad Wasim also reversed his decision of retirement a day ago.
With Pakistan’s current mainstream pacers Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf either not fully fit or injured, Amir has a huge chance to get into the Pakistani bowling setup for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup. The Punjab-born bowler has impressive stats in the Caribbean Premier League too, having played in 29 matches, he has bagged 43 wickets at a stunning strike rate of 13.27. So adding Amir might be a game-changing deal for Pakistan.
