KeymasterVirat Kohli’s Runs In 2011 World Cup Final
Virat Kohli was a part of the Indian squad that won the 2011 World Cup final in Mumbai against Sri Lanka. Virat scored 35 runs off 49 balls in the 2011 WC final at Wankhede Stadium batting at no 3 after the dismissal of his hero Sachin Tendulkar. He even stitched an important 83-run partnership with Gautam Gambhir for the third wicket after India was reeling at 31/2 in 6.1 overs. Later this stand turned out to be crucial in India’s 275-run chase. The Delhite batsman hit four boundaries in his superb knock.
Overall, Virat Kohli amassed 282 runs in 9 matches at a decent average of 35.25 in the mega event. He scored 1 hundred and as many fifties with 100* against Bangladesh in his first World game remained his best. He was spot-on with his technique and soaked the pressure of the big event well. Virat contributed with 30s and 40s if he could not hammer a fifty. The Delhite player fielded outstandingly and saved many boundaries and took catches throughout the event to make the Men in Blue win.
