Abhishek Sharma scored an extraordinary 135 off just 54 balls, marking the highest T20I score by an Indian, surpassing his Punjab teammate Shubman Gill‘s previous record of an unbeaten 126 against New Zealand in 2023.

Abhishek started cautiously, accumulating only five runs in the first four deliveries. However, after his partner Sanju Samson departed for 16 off 7 balls, Sharma shifted gears. He unleashed a flurry of boundaries, hitting Archer for two consecutive sixes and a four in his second over. Sharma’s aggressive batting saw him reach his fifty in just 17 balls, the second fastest by an Indian, trailing only Yuvraj Singh’s record for the fastest T20I half-century.

Sharma reached his century in just 37 balls, narrowly missing Rohit Sharma’s record of 35 balls for the fastest T20I century by an Indian. His explosive innings propelled India to a commanding total of 247/9 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, a collective bowling effort, led by Mohammed Shami’s 3/25, bowled out England for a mere 97 runs, securing India’s victory by a massive 150-run margin.
