KeymasterHarshit Rana and Yashasvi Jaiswal Made ODI Debut For India
Harshit Rana and Yashasvi Jaiswal made their ODI debuts for India during the 1st ODI against England on Thursday at the Vidarbha Cricket Association, Nagpur. Rana and Jaiswal became the 257th and 258th players respectively to represent India in ODI cricket. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma handed the cap to the Mumbai batter Jaiswal, while premier seamer Mohammed Shami presented the cap to the KKR fast bowler Rana.
Harshit Rana
Harshit Rana‘s journey to the national team began with his impressive international debut last November in Australia, where he took a four-wicket haul in Perth. He recently played his first T20 match in the series against England. The 23-year-old gained recognition during the IPL 2024, taking 19 wickets in 11 matches and finishing as the fifth-highest wicket-taker in KKR’s successful campaign. His stellar performance in the 2024 Duleep Trophy further cemented his path to the Indian cricket team.
Yashasvi Jaiswal
On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a remarkable run with the bat for India in Test and T20 formats. He has thrived in the opening position, bringing back the lefty-righty combination for India. The southpaw has scored over 1700 runs at an average of 52.9 in Tests, with four centuries and ten fifties. In T20s, he has amassed 723 runs at a strike rate of 164.3. His consistent performance as an opener earned him a spot in the ODI team. In the upcoming Champions Trophy, we might see him opening the innings with Rohit Sharma in Dubai.
