Yuvraj Singh was the major contributor to India’s triumph in the 2011 World Cup. His three-dimensional ability to bat, bowl, and save boundaries on the field made him a treasure for the Men in Blue. The Southpaw played in nine games in the marquee tournament and scored 362 runs at a staggering average of 90.50. He scored four fifties and 1 hundred in the event with 113 against West Indies remained his highest score.
Yuvi donned the Indian jersey throughout the tournament despite being ill due to cancer. He gave his all and never gave up on the field. With the ball too he picked up 15 wickets and was adjudged the Player of the Series for his exceptional performance. The Punjab cricketer won four Man of the Match awards in the competuon, including one in the important quarter finals against Australia where he took 2/44 and later helped India to chase down 261 with his smooth 57* off 65 deliveries. Without Yuvraj it was impossible for India to emd their 28 year World Cup drought.
